The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC says there is an improved level of compliance with ease of lockdown directives on-road transportation, particularly physical distancing and compulsory use of face masks by commuters at the various parks, terminals, and bus stops within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In a statement signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem who led a team of personnel round the Territory to monitor the general compliance level with the aforementioned precautionary measures; the combined efforts of road transport owners, transport unions and motorists alike in complying with Government directives as witnessed is highly commendable.

He also noted that during the monitoring operation, it was discovered that majority of commuters strictly adhered with the directives on compulsory use of face masks and keeping physical distancing at terminals and in the vehicles as observed.

Meanwhile, there were still identifiable cases of non-compliance noticed in Berger Roundabout and Wuse Market bus stop.

At Berger Roundabout, majority of the transporters complied accordingly with the stated number of persons required of them to convey with adequate spacing of passengers.

However, the Corps Public Education Officer had to compel a BRT Bus operated by the FCT Administration to drop some of the passengers when sighted to have violated physical distancing in the vehicle.

More so, some passengers were also educated on the importance of the protective materials, and asked to alight from the vehicle at Wuse Market bus stop for not wearing face masks.
