The Nigeria Army says it has killed 1,015 Boko Haram insurgents, and arrested 84 informants and couriers, in North-East Nigeria.

The exploits were made during the recent counter-insurgency operations, by the troops of Operation Lafiya Dole, in the Sambisa Forest and around the Lake Chad region.

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant-General Tukur Buratai, stated this when he was holding a luncheon for wounded troops, to mark the Eid-El Fitr at the Maimalari Cantonment in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Buratai said, the successes were recorded since his arrived at the theatre of Operation Lafiya Dole on April 4 where counter-insurgency operations were conducted in over a dozen communities in Borno and Yobe States.

He adds that, many Boko Haram camps and hideouts, were also destroyed, with several of the terrorists wounded.

The Army Chief says, the exploits were in spite of the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.

He also says that the subsequent lockdown, has delayed the delivery of fighting equipment, and other logistics to the front lines. He commends the troops for their gallantry and asks them to be disciplined and committed.

Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Zulum in his remarks pledged continuous support to the military, and prayed for those that paid the Supreme price.

The Governor accompanied by the Army Chief and other senior dignitaries, served lunch, to the wounded soldiers.
