Five years after breaking away from the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, the United Labour Congress, ULC, has resolved to do away with their differences, rejoin and remain under one umbrella.
With this reconciliation, the leadership and structures of the ULCs led by Joe Ajaero have been reintegrated into the NLC led by Ayuba Wabba.
In the reconciliation Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two leaderships on Thursday at the Labour House in Abuja, the modus operandi for the re-integration and ancillary issues were spelt out to both parties.
The crisis and rationalisation started in 2015, after the conduct of leadership election in the NLC at the 10th National Delegates Conference, where some misunderstanding arose between some affiliates of the Congress.
Efforts by Labour veterans such as the pioneer President of the NLC, Hassan Sunmonu, and a former President of the NLC, Adams Oshiomhole, to resolve the issue were inconclusive.

Despite their differences, the NLC and ULC maintained cooperation and collaboration during negotiations for the new national minimum wage among other issues of national concern.
