As part of the implementation of the World Bank funded Adolescent Girls’ Initiative for Learning and Empowerment, AGILE, the Katsina State Government has flagged off the disbursement of Conditional Cash Transfer 3rd cohort to 49,370 beneficiaries selected from poorest of the poor households.
The project which is under the financial incentives to the poorest households, is targeted at increasing school enrolment, the transition from junior secondary to senior secondary school, and the retention of the girl-child to complete their education.
The disbursement of the money was done by Governor Dikko Radda who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Abdullahi Faskari. According to him, the gesture is part of the commitment of the present administration to reposition education in the state.

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Hadiza Yar’adua restated the Ministry’s readiness to ensure that all eligible school-age girls, will not only go back to school but, complete their studies.
The State Project Coordinator of AGILE, Dr. Mustapha Shehu, said the beneficiaries across the 34 LGAs were selected after carefully analysing the poverty mapping of the state published by the National Bureau of Statistics in 2022 and using the micro and macroeconomic quintile analysis of the households. He added that with this 3rd cohort of beneficiaries, the project would have recorded 87,508 households out of the targeted 156,280.
Two of the beneficiaries, Maryam Musa and Sarah Joshua were full of thanks to the AGILE project saying the gesture will go a long way to assist them in their educational pursuit.
