Asaba Airport set to Begin Flight Operations

Delta State Government says the Asaba International Airport is set to resume flight operations; having put in place necessary Covid-19 protocols ahead of its planned resumption.

Secretary to the State Government, Chiedu Ebie who was accompanied by some State Commissioners stated this during an inspection tour of facilities at the airport.

The Asaba International Airport was shut down on the 27th of March at the peak of Covid-19; paralysing all businesses at the airport.

Although the pandemic is yet to abate, authorities are set to resume flight operations as the state relaxes its lockdown measures.

According to Ebie, the State Government has in line with established protocols of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control for aviation activities put in place all the is necessary for compliance.

Ebie explained that the airport personnel have been effectively trained to enable them handle situations like this.

The Special Project Director of the Airport, Austin’s Ayemidejor who conducted the SSG and his team around the airport confirmed that the facility was ready for full flight operations.

Areas inspected were the ticketing hall, as well as the departure and arrival halls which were already fixed with Covid-19 preventive materials.
