The Benue State Government has concluded an arrangement to engage workers on the benefit of the contributory pension scheme it recently passed into law.
To ensure effective implementation of the PENCOM law, the State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has directed the Secretary to the State Government to organize a workshop to enlighten workers in the state.
The Governor gave the directive in Makurdi when he received in audience officials of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Benue State University Teaching Hospital Chapter.
Governor Ortom said the contributory scheme will put an end to the protracted issue of non payment of the entitlements of retirees.
The Governor, who acknowledged the significant role nurses and midwives play in the healthcare sector, said his administration will continue to make adequate provision for quality health care in the state.

Earlier, Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses and Midwives, Tahav Kershio, thanked the Governor for clearing all outstanding arrears and setting a new pace in the development of the health sector in the state with the reaccreditation of the schools of nursing and midwifery.
