Bauchi State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, RUWASA, has inaugurated a 17-man committee for the selection of one local government across the 20 local government areas, LGAs in Bauchi State, for piloting a project that will be supported by Water Aid and the Bauchi State Government.
According to Adamu Sabo, the Acting General Manager of the agency, the selected LGA will benefit from the water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities projects.
The inauguration of the committee, which was drawn from eleven Ministries Department and Agencies (MDAs,) is being performed by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Nuhu Zaki, with the responsibility of selecting one LGA.
Part of the requirements is for the LGA to have a functional WASH institution, with plans, strategies, and a financing system, among others.

According to the Acting General Manager, Adamu Sabo, two more LGAs are expected to be included, to have one LGA from each of the three senatorial districts, following the approval of the Bauchi State Government.
The Commissioner for Water Resources Nuhu Zaki, assured the readiness of the Bauchi State Government to support the programme, saying plans are underway for the state to deepen the supply of water across the rural areas of the state.
The programme, according to the organisers, is expected to last for five years.
