Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has unveiled an ambitious blueprint for transforming the state’s education sector, emphasizing a comprehensive overhaul of both the school curriculum and teaching methods.
Addressing attendees at the 19th convocation ceremony of Enugu State University (ESUT) on Saturday, Governor Mbah emphasized his vision to modernize experiential learning through the integration of practical exercises and technology into the curriculum.
The Governor placed particular emphasis on basic schools, announcing the government’s intent to implement a transformative cutoff program.
This initiative includes a school meal program, complemented by preventive medications and vaccinations, aimed at not only nourishing students but also enhancing their overall well-being. “This will position our children from the age of three to compete effectively in the world of the 21st century.

Beyond the teaching and learning system, the administration of the school will leverage technology to allow the delivery of classes virtually and live streaming certain learning contents from the teachers and facilitators living overseas.”
He equally gave insights into the construction of 250 smart schools across the state, stating that these schools would be completed within the next fourteen months”
“These smart schools will each be equipped with internet access, solar panels, a center for robotic and artificial intelligence, a modern ICT center, two well-equipped science labs for primary and junior secondary school, a studio for creative production, 25 inclusive classrooms with interactive digital whiteboards, and android tablets for pupils using these facilities.
This will ensure that no child is deprived of world-class knowledge merely on account of his place of abode. Even the poorest child in the most interior world in this state will be able to receive world-class education using tools of the 21st century.”
