Governor Douye Diri has directed the immediate release of one of the #EndSARS protesters who was allegedly arrested during the protest by personnel of the Nigerian Police, saying it is the citizens right to peaceful demonstration.
The Bayelsa State Governor who gave the order at the weekend when he joined the protesters at the Government House Gate, promised to address their demands within his reach and to channel others to the appropriate authorities at the federal level.
Governor Douye Diri had joined the protest while returning from a floods inspection tour of the state.
He declared his solidarity with the call for an end to police brutality across the country.

Diri thereafter marched with the protesters to the state Police Headquarters.
The Commissioner of Police, Mike Okoli, thanked the youths for peaceful demonstration and promised to ensure that all corrupt police officers are fished out and dealt with.
As at the time of filing this report, the protests were ongoing.
