Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire have denounced the invasion of Essential Drugs Programme, Edo State Medical Stores Complex by residents that were after COVID-19 palliatives in Benin City.
Speaking after inspecting the level of damage done to the complex, they called on residents to be law abiding and return the medical supplies carted away that are of no use to them and can still be used.Some residents besieged the Essential Drugs Programme, Edo State Medical Stores Complex, in search of COVID -19 palliatives.
The complex is made up of different warehouses that had majorly hospital supplies, like vaccines and high-end equipment used to feed the whole hospital network in the state. It was looted of medical consumables and none consumables worth millions of naira carted away.
Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire are emphatic that the wanton destruction could not be ascribed to the #EndSARS protests.

Governor Obaseki disclosed that one of the warehouses had food reserve for emergencies.
The Minister of Health noted that assessment of the damage done had to be carried out to ascertain the next step to take.
Commissioner of Police, Edo Command, Johnson Kokumo revealed that deployment of security personnel was made early enough but had to check themselves to avoid casualties. He says arrests have been made.
They called on members of the community to assist in returning some of the medical supplies that can still be used instead of discarding them.
