It’s five days to Christmas and most of the popular motor parks in Kano state are practically empty with very few passengers coming in to travel to their respective states against the rush witnessed in previous years.
Some travelers who spoke to ait.live in Kano, attributed the law turnout to the current economic situation occasioned by the increase in the price of premium motor spirit.
A full passenger load of a bus at twelve thousand naira per passenger from Kano to Makurdi amounts to one hundred and ten thousand naira.
This is according to Damian Terna, the Kano State branch manager of Benue Links, with a whooping sum of ninety thousand naira spent on fueling the bus to complete the trip, outside the wear and tear of the bus.
The economic situation, according to passengers is responsible for the low turnout of people making their way to the park to travel for the Christmas festival.
With anticipated uncertainties in 2024, these passengers are advising fellow Nigerians not to travel for the fun of it.
They are appealing to governments at all levels to think of making the economy better for the poor masses in the coming year 2024.
