Sadiya Farouq flags off disbursement of Federal Government grant in Zamfara

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, has flagged off the disbursement of 20,000.00 Naira each to poor rural women in Zamfara State.

About 250 poor rural women in the state benefited from the Federal Government grant meant for over 150 rural women across the 36 states of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.

Farouq said the grant will increase access to financial capital required for economic activities and improve the standard of living of the women.

She also expressed optimism that with the support of Governor Bello Mohammed of Zamfara State and other stakeholders, 100 million persons can be lifted out of poverty, by the year 2030.

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development also noted that the conditional cash transfer recently launched in Zamfara State was intended to improve the socio-economic activities and livelihood of over 130, 000 beneficiaries in the six local governments areas of the state.

Governor Bello, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Bala Maru, said the gesture will go along way to alleviate the hardship occasioned by banditry activities, in the state.

The Minister also discloses that the Federal Government will partner with the Zamfara State Government to provide humanitarian services and social protection to the people in order to better their lots in life.
