The challenges of insecurity, violent crimes and drugs abuse in Nigeria can be reduced to the barest minimum if the authorities are firm in enforcing the laws of the land.
This is the view canvassed by the Bishop on the Niger, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo at the 2024 Students’ convention, holding at the All Saints Cathedral Onitsha, Anambra State, Southeast Nigeria.
Students of the Anglican Communion faith from both Mission and public schools within the Diocese on the Niger, have converged on the All Saints Cathedral, Onitsha for their 2024 convention.
The Bishop On The Niger, His Lordship, Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo is addressing the young ones on this topic, “The Consequences of Sin and Errors”.
The clergy reminds the mainly Secondary school students of their future roles as leaders, encouraging them to strive to live upright lives by following the principles and examples of Jesus Christ in the holy book.
Bishop Nwokolo is blaming the current rising waves of insecurity, violent crimes and abuse of hard drugs, among young people in the country, on the law enforcement agencies who in his words, “have compromised and sacrificed truth on the alter of greed”.
Speaking on the worsening level of unemployment, the Anglican Bishop wants Nigeria’s education administrators and managers to as a matter of urgency and deliberate strategic policy, incorporate skills and crafts development and acquisition into the nation’s education curriculum so as to improve job creation.
The event which also featured exhibitions in Science and technology, Home economics, Agriculture, Arts and Crafts as well as awards of prizes to best performing students in various subjects competed for, saw the participants display and showcase their hand made products
