Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila says the chamber is yet to receive any official communication from President Muhammadu Buhari on whether he had pulled out from the planned briefing over the worsening security situation in the country.
The Speaker’s comments arose at Thursday’s sitting from a point of order raised by a member, Solomon Bob on the resolution of the House inviting the president, and why that resolution has not been complied with.
Two weeks ago, the Speaker had announced after meeting President Buhari at the Aso Villa, that he (Buhari) had accepted the “invitation” to brief the lawmakers on the steps the administration was taking to curb the killings and criminality across the country.

Buhari’s aide on social media, Lauretta Onochie followed up with a tweet that the president will infact address a joint session of both chambers of the National Assembly over the insecurity challenges.
The Attorney General of of the Federation, Abubakar Malami on Thursday released a statement describing the “invitation” of the president by the House as unconstitutional.
