Cross river task force takes campaign to Border towns, Bakassi Communities

Cross River State Government says the influx of foreigners from Cameroon and Equitoria Guinea into the state at this period of second wave of covid-19 pandemic has become a source of worry to the state which only federal government can intervene.

Chairman of covid-19 taskforce Team in the State, Dr. Betta Edu stated this when she led her team on renewed advocacy to Bakassi Border community in Ikang.

Edu said the awareness focuses on support to health systems, border awareness and sensitization to enhance prevention and response, and improve cross border surveillance and cooperation among the host communities.

She explained that Cross border transmission of covid-19 is risky to the people of Cross River State in this second phase.

On his part, the Chairman of Bakassi Local Government Area,Iyadim Iyadim, assured the taskforce of providing useful information as it affects health and safety of the citizens.

He called on the people of Bakassi with symptoms to come forward for covid-19 test.

The taskforce team provided PPEs, hand washing buckets, hand sanitizers, face masks among others to the people of Bakssi through the local Government Office.
