The Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, says before the end of the year, 3 more international airports in the country will be certified for accreditation by the Airports Council International, ACI, in its Airport Health Accreditation Programme.

This is coming after the international airports in Abuja, Port Harcourt and Lagos received certificates for providing safe airport environment in line with the ACI, Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines as well as ICAO Council Aviation Restart Task Force recommendations along with industry best practice.

In a telephone chat with ait.live, FAAN General Manager Corporate Affairs, Henrietta Yakubu says efforts are been made by the Authority to ensure that the 3 remaining international airports meet up the requirements needed to receive the certificates in ensuring safety of all travellers and airports users.

FAAN had recently beefed up protocols at all airports following the new wave of Covid-19 as a monitoring team was set up for each airport to drive total compliance in accordance with regulations of the Airports Council International.

The Muritala Mohammed International Airport Lagos was the third to be accredited in Nigeria under the programme after the Nnamdi Azikwe International Abuja and Port Harcourt International Airport.

The remaining 3 international airports to be accredited are the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport Kano, Akanu Ibiam International Airport Enugu and Margaret Ekpo International Airport Calabar.
