Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that 140 women would benefit from the Renewed Hope Initiative Women’s Agricultural Support Programme.

She made this known at the launch of the programme for the North West Zone in Kebbi State.

Oluremi said that the initiative would support one hundred and forty women in agriculture with the sum of five hundred thousand Naira each, while one hundred people with special needs are to be supported with one hundred thousand Naira each.

Represented by the wife of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Fatima Tajuddeen Abbas, the first lady said the initiative would collaborate with the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to ensure food security and food sustainability in the country.

She urges the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money and the equipment given to them, by supporting the nation’s food security.

The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Zainab Nasiru Idris, supported Nigeria’s First Lady’s benevolence by assisting each of the one hundred and forty beneficiaries with solar water pumping machines, and each person with special needs with assorted food items.

She urged other first lady’s of the six states of the North West to do the same in their states, to support women farmers.

Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State said the concept is timely, and would stimulate women’s involvement in agricultural activities across the nation.

He said government must support women in agriculture to ensure the growth and sustainability of the sector, and strengthen industries, to drive the nation’s growth and development.
