Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has frowned at the judiciary in the State, for allegedly granting bail to some suspected notorious bandit leaders, who were apprehended with weapons and brought to Court for prosecution.

The Governor said the suspected notorious bandit leaders were released based on an alleged order from some people in Abuja, whom he claimed had been communicating with the suspected bandit leaders immediately they were arrested, with an assurance that the suspects would regain their freedom.

Governor Lawal made the allegations during the swearing-in of new Magistrates in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital, where he commended some members of the judiciary for their diligence, in carrying out their responsibilities.

Lawal explained that one of the suspected bandit leaders was traced to Bauchi State where he was arrested, while the other was picked up in Gusau, and they were charged to Court.

The Governor however charged the new judicial officers to have the fear of God, and always discharge their responsibilities with the utmost integrity and honesty, for the collective interest of all the law-abiding citizens.

He noted the current security challenges Zamfara State is facing, including banditry, kidnapping, cattle rustling and other sundry crimes, and appealed that all hands must be on deck to tackle them.

The Chief Judge of Zamfara State, Justice Kulu Aliyu, charged the newly sworn-in Magistrates to live up to the expectations of their offices, as all eyes are on the judiciary.

ait.live reports that the Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has been talking tough in recent times, accusing some prominent individuals, whom he believes, sit in Abuja, and initiate negotiations with the bandits in the State, without his knowledge.

An action he thinks, is worsening the security challenges in Zamfara, insisting that with the right political will, the Troops can end banditry in two weeks.
