The race for the White House between Incumbent President, Joe Biden and his predecessor, Donald Trump has seen both justifying reasons Americans should elect them in the first of three planned debates hosted by cable network, CNN.

Taking on several issues posed to him by the moderators, Biden insisted that his foreign policy has been to ensure global peace by supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia, to which Trump insisted it is an avoidable war which he said he will resolve, and accused Biden of working to start a Third World War.

Trump blamed his successor for the immigration crisis stressing that he kept illegal aliens out during his term, but Biden insisted that his handling of the southern border crisis had been firm, but with a humane approach.

Trump declined to take responsibility for the January 6 Capitol Hill riots, when Biden pressed him to do so as he also denied ever having an affair with adult fim star, Stormy Daniels – for which he was convicted for using slush funds to have the affair hushed prior to ascending the Presidency in 2016.

On the economy, Biden and Trump traded blame for the state of the American economy, with the incumbent accusing his successor for bequeathing to him, what he called a poor economy, saying Black citizens have had a hard time, with Trump shooting back that Biden’s policies had made illegal aliens take Blacks jobs.

Abortion was another thorny issue, with Biden accusing Trump of using his appointment of three justices to the Supreme Court while in office to take reproductive rights from American women.

The debate ended with Trump reluctantly agreeing to accept the results, but added a caveat that he will do so if the election was fair, a line he used four years when he first sought re-election as incumbent.

The 90-minute debate finally came to a close with both men walking in opposite directions without shaking hands with Trump taking his leave by the side entrance of the stage, while Biden and his wife who had come up stage, walking down to the dias where the moderators, Jake Tapper and Danna Bash were seated to exchange pleasantries.
