Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah has received an award from the federal government for his efforts in championing entrepreneurial development and economic growth through the empowerment of micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs in the State.
Governor Mbah was among few Nigerians recognized during the 6th National MSME award held at the State House Banquet hall in Abuja.
The Enugu State Government in partnership with the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) had launched N1 billion fund to empower MSMEs in the State.
The objective of the N1 billion fund is to offer accessible, single-digit loans to MSMEs, meeting the essential requirement for affordable business financing in Enugu
Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation, Temitola Adekunle-Johnson said the award was introduced as part of the 2024 MSME Week celebrations to acknowledge and incentivise innovative and resilient entrepreneurs and state actors who have demonstrated exceptional success in their ventures.
The federal government had created a national MSME clinic to offer a platform for businesses to showcase their products, secure investments, and improve in critical areas such as funding, skill development, infrastructure.
Distinguished entrepreneurs were rewarded with houses, cars, and cash prizes during the 2024 MSMEs Week celebrations.
