Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fayoade Adegoke, has arrived at the protest ground in Ojota amid tensions between protesters and security agents.

His arrival comes after he sparked outrage among protesters with a statement on Sunday, claiming that the protests had ended.

However, in a surprise turn of events, Adegoke claimed that he was misquoted, attempting to clarify his earlier statement.

The protesters, who have been demonstrating against bad governance and demanding improved living conditions, were infuriated by his initial comment, which they saw as an attempt to undermine their movement.

When approached by journalists to explain his position, Adegoke declined to comment, saying “I don’t want to speak with the media so as not to be misquoted.” This move has further fueled skepticism among protesters, who are demanding transparency and accountability from the authorities.

Adegoke’s arrival at the protest ground has been met with skepticism, as protesters question his intentions and demand an explanation for his earlier statement.

The situation remains tense, with protesters vowing to continue their demonstrations despite the Commissioner’s claims.

The Lagos Police Commissioner’s actions have added to the uncertainty surrounding the protests, which began on August 1. The protesters have rejected President Bola Tinubu’s broadcast, demanding concrete actions to address their grievances.

As the situation unfolds, it remains to be seen how Adegoke’s presence will impact the protests and the response of the security agents.
