Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State joined the country’s Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, on an inspection tour of key Federal road projects on Sunday criss-crossing Enugu State, South East Nigeria.

Mbah said the joint inspection by the two leaders was a remarkable demonstration of a healthy collaboration and partnership, commending the Federal Government’s commitment to improving roads infrastructure in the region.

The Governor notes that the ongoing efforts to build a common market in the South East region of Nigeria, hinge on having good road and transportation networks, adding that the current administration has been relentless in supporting the objective.

The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi attributed the wave of infrastructure development being witnessed across the South East geo-political zone, to the synergy between the State Governments in the region, and the Federal Government

Umahi specifically commended Governor Mbah for initiating the dualization of the 24-kilometer Enugu axis of the Enugu – Abakaliki – Ogoja Trans-Sahara Highway, noting that this intervention has greatly complemented the Federal Government’s road infrastructure efforts in the State.

During the Sunday evening inspection, Mbah and Umahi visited several project sites including the ongoing construction of a twin bridge at the collapsed New Artisan section of Enugu – Port Harcourt Expressway, where the Minister directed the contractor to complete the project by October 2024.

Umahi also expressed the Federal Government’s willingness to collaborate with the Enugu State Government in constructing a flyover bridge at Abakpa Junction in Enugu’s capital city so as to alleviate traffic congestion within that area, and boost the State’s economic prospects.
