The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has approved the payment needed to complete the multi-billion-Naira Kafanchan Road project.
The Kafanchan Road Project, initiated under the previous administration’s Urban Renewal Project in 2020, was originally slated for completion within 18 months, but due to several delays the project remained uncompleted till 2024.
The road is crucial to the socio-economic life of Kaduna State as it connects neighbouring communities and States, which when in condition will enhance security, boost economic activities, and generate more revenue for Kaduna State and the country at large.
Residents of Southern Kaduna, and motorists using the Kafanchan dualised township road have expressed frustration over the slow progress of construction work given the attendant sufferings the people are going through.
Once completed, the road will link Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Nasarawa States and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, thereby revitalising the region’s economy.
The construction company handling the road project had cited poor funding and lack of full payment by the previous administration, and the rising costs of construction materials, as the primary reasons for the delay in delivery of the strategic Kafanchan highway project.
In response, Governor Uba Sani, through the Kaduna State Road Agency, (KADRA), has approved the necessary funds to expedite the road’s completion.
This decision aims to alleviate the residents’ hardship, and encourage economic growth in the area.
Some residents have commended Governor Sani, for his commitment to the project’s completion, and his focus on people-orientated policies.
The KADRA has however announced that the road will be completed in the coming months, and urged residents to continue supporting Governor Sani’s developmental and socio-economic initiatives for the State.
