Nigeria’s House of Representatives has voted against the provision on electronic transmission of results in the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
Only APC lawmakers were involved in the vote after their PDP counterparts staged a walkout following their disagreement with the handling of proceedings by the Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase.

The House earlier had a rowdy session after Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase skipped Section 52 of Electoral Act Amendment Bill on electronic transmission of results insisting that his controversial ruling on it on Thursday was valid.
The House however later reached a decision to revisit the controversial section 52 after considering other provisions of Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu did not address the lawmakers on the electronic transfer of results as resolved at Thursday’s sitting because according to Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila no invitation was extended to him to appear before House.
The House was however addressed by the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Ubale Maska who says Nigeria does not have needed network coverage to oversee elections.
Maska says to cover elections and transmit results through electronic means Nigeria needs strong 3G network connection but only 50% of polling units have 3G coverage.
