The Federal Ministry of Environment has announced the deployment of staff from relevant agencies to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital to address pollution and other environmental challenges after deadly flooding.
Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas made this known while consoling Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, where he had led a delegation of heads of relevant agencies in his Ministry, on an assessment visit to Maiduguri.
Abbas said the ministry had prepared for the aftermath of the flood in Maiduguri, with the deployment of staff of relevant agencies, to Borno State.
“A team will come to join teams in Borno to address the issues. We are bringing all the resources of the ministry to Borno to stay and address the aftermath of this flood. That’s why we came with all those directly involved, particularly our Director of Pollution Management.”
Governor Zulum lauded the ministry for its show of concern and called for sustainable solution to the issue of Alau Dam, and desertification, facing the state.
Meanwhile, more dignitaries have been arriving to console with the people of Maiduguri.
They include Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, who donated N100 million from the State Government, among others.
