At a time Nigerians are faced with incessant National Grid collapse resulting in darkness, the Niger State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has arrested three suspects for vandalising a Transformer along Okada Road within Minna metropolis.

Commandant of the Corps, Adamu Kambra, who disclosed this at the Command Headquarters warned that the Corps under his watch will continue to hunt down vandals of critical National Assets in the State.
Parading the 3 suspects, Commandant Adamu Kambra said they were arrested on October 23 by the tactical operatives of the Chanchaga Division upon the receipt of credible intelligence.

The arrested suspects are identified as 32-year-old Mohammed Mohammed, 32-year-old Suleiman Musa, and 25-year-old Umar Faruk Ibrahim, who were apprehended at the crime scene and taken into custody for further investigation.

Kambra further stressed NSCDC’s commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure, as outlined in the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Act, which mandates 24-hour surveillance of federal, state, and local government facilities.
“This operation underscores the importance of collaboration between the NSCDC, other security agencies, and local vigilante groups in ensuring public safety,”
Speaking on the impact of the vandalism, Assistant Director of Finance at the Niger State Electricity Board, Bala Kutigi, revealed that the incident has disrupted electricity supply to residents.
He further hailed the NSCDC for its robust partnership with the board, which has been instrumental in addressing such challenges.
The suspects will be charged to court at the end of investigation for further action.
