Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has described the flood situation at Biseni communities in Yenagoa local council area of the state where hundreds of families have been displaced as very pathetic.
The governor, who visited the communities on Friday to assess the impact of the disaster on the people, assured that the state government will secure higher grounds to build shelters as part of efforts to find a lasting solution.
Biseni Clan is made of up thirteen communities and they are often the worst hit in every flood season.
The main access road has also been overtaken by the rising waters, leaving the creeks as the only access route.

Governor Douye Diri, and his entourage, journeyed through Taylor Creek to have first hand information on the impact of the flood on the agrarian communities of Biseni.
His arrival sparked excitement among the natives, who also narrated their ordeals.
Stakeholders in the areas expressed gratitude to the Governor for identifying with them in their most trying moments.
In matching words with action, relief materials were already packed at the Jetty waiting to be transported to the communities even while the Governor was yet to depart the area.
