Civil Servants in Cross River State are on a two-day warning strike over the failure of the State government to come to an agreement with the state chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, and the Trade Union Congress, TUC, on the N70,000 new minimum wage.
ait.live correspondent in Calabar who monitored the enforcement exercise led by the Chairman of the Joint Action Committee of the Organized Labour, reports that workers fully complied with the directives on the strike, as all government officers have been shut down.
Chairman of the Joint Action Committee, Emmanuel Oteh, said the warning strike would be followed by a total action, if the government failed to come up with an agreement soon.
Meanwhile, the State Governor, Bassey Otu, had earlier appealed to the Organized Labour to suspend the ongoing warning strike, assuring that the N70,000 minimum wage would be implemented in due time.
