Aviation Minister Calls for Renewed Investments In Sector As NCAA, Airline Operators Hold Summit

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Barr Festus Kyamo has called on the private sector to support the Federal government of Nigeria to expand the Aviation industry to meet current standards and requirements obtainable worldwide.

Speaking on Thursday in Port Harcourt the Rivers State capital at the ongoing Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority summit, the Minister with other critical stakeholders in the Aviation sector called for compliance to safety regulations, sustainability, improvement of infrastructure and optimisation of revenue generation.

In spite of the prevailing economic realities, the Nigerian Aviation industry has shown resilience in the improvement of Airport operations by foreign and indigenous Airlines which the Minister acknowledged in a keynote address delivered by the Acting Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Captain Chris Najomo.

He urged stakeholders to collaborate and maintain the achievements under the current administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Other Speakers at the Summit reiterated the need for Government’s continuous inputs to upscale the standards achieved.

Though the representatives of some private Airlines joining in the call for more private participation, they however cautioned proper scrutiny of potential investors on the part of the regulators, as the Aviation business required intergrity.

The technical session saw Aviation experts and some economists gave tips on how to become a reliable investors in the Aviation sector.

The Summit is part of efforts by the Federal government and the private sector to collaborate in rejigging the Nigerian Aviation industry in order to meet world standards.
