Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara says the Armed Forces Remembrance Day should not only be about celebrating the gallant heroes who laid down their lives for the country but also about the well-being of veterans and dependents left behind.

Speaking at an interdenominational church service to mark the 2025 Nigerian Armed Forces Remembrance Day, Governor Fubara says his administration will, on its part, devote more time and resources to support the dependents of the fallen heroes and veterans through the Nigerian Legion.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara alongside his deputy and other members of his cabinet offered prayers to the memory and honour of the gallant members of the Nigerian armed forces who are either dead, living, serving or retired.

Drawing from the theme of the service, Governor Fubara noted that his administration will not just remember the fallen heroes but also devote its resources to the welfare of the veterans and dependents left behind.

The governor also gave the assurance that 2025 will be a special year for the people.

He said the goals can only be achieved when there is peace and security in Rivers State.

While thanking the people and the church for their prayers and support, Governor Siminalayi Fubara wants members of the clergy to refrain from allowing their pulpits to be used to settle personal scores or tarnish the image of some individuals.

Special prayers were also said for the fallen heroes, their families, the armed forces and for a safe, peaceful and united Nigeria.
