The Federal Executive Council FEC has approved more provisional licenses for the establishment of 11 new private universities in Nigeria.

The newly approved private universities are:

Council also approved a new compliance regime to counter unlicensed, unregulated and under reported mining areas in renewed efforts to sanitise the sector.

At its meeting held on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, the federal cabinet members led by President Bola Tinubu also approved contract for the completion of the dualization of Oyo-Ogbomoso road in Oyo state.

Again, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu shows up at the council chambers of the Presidential Villa to take charge of proceedings of another cabinet meeting which considered and approved several memos from government ministries, departments and agencies.

Certainly not a bad day for Works Minister, Dave Umahi whose memo for the dualisation of a major road project in Oyo State got council’s endorsement.

The federal government is expected to spend 147 billion Naira to complete the dualization of the Oyo-Ogbomoso road in Oyo state.

With oil revenue hardly sufficient to address competing national demands, Government is looking at the non-oil sector to rake in more money to drive development

Critical reforms are being instituted in the mining sector which is key to the success of Government’s economic diversification initiative

The minister of solid minerals development Dele Alake explained that the new mining-sector framework will strengthen regulatory enforcement.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo was among ministers who joined the post-cabinet meeting briefing

He told Journalists that the federal government has insured critical infrastructure in the aviation industry across the country, a move which he says will reposition the Nigeria aerospace to operate in line with global best practices.

His counterpart in the women affairs ministry, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim also briefed Journalists on developments that affect women in Nigeria

The next meeting of the executive council of the federation has been slated for Wednesday as announced by the minister of information and national orientation Mohamed Idris
