Full-time Higher National Diploma graduates will remain mobilised for the National Youth Service Corps NYSC, while those with part-time HND are not eligible for mobilization.
This was conveyed by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, in a statement signed by the director press, in the Ministry, Boriowo Folasade.
The Minister said the resolution of the long-standing issue regarding the mobilization of HND graduates for the NYSC, Follows a dialogue with the NYSC Director-General, and was confirmed that only full-time HND graduates are eligible for mobilization.
To facilitate a seamless mobilization process, the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE has been directed to expedite the collation of data for eligible HND graduates, in line with the resolution.
The statement said a circular has been sent to all Rectors of Polytechnics, instructing them to upload the necessary graduate data onto the newly created HND admission portal.
The Minister used the statement to reemphasize that NYSC mobilization is strictly for those who have completed full-time HND, while those who did HND part-time remain ineligible.
He further disclosed that the newly created portal will ensure proper documentation of full-time HND graduates and serve as the official database for NYSC mobilization and addressing past challenges related to admission records.
In January 2025, thousands of part-time HND graduates took to the streets in lagos to protest their exclusion from mobilisation for NYSC, following the new policy.
That protest is what necessitates the statement by the Minister, clarifying that part-time HND graduates remain ineligible for NYSC mobilisation
