One hundred and thirty-eight kilograms of fake maize seeds have been confiscated by a team of the National Agricultural Seed Council.
The fake maize seeds were confiscated during a raid, carried out in different parts of Chanchaga and Bosso Local Government Areas of Niger State.
The Director of Seed Inspectorate Division, Agbola Adebayo, who led the team, noted that the majority of the seeds being sold to farmers in the markets are substandard.
Adebayo explained that surveillance is part of measures to address the ugly trend, which affects the fortunes of the farmers at the end of the farming season.
