In a bid to stem the tide of criminal activities in the State, the Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, has held a stakeholder meeting with hoteliers in Minna, at the State Police Headquarters Dutsen-Kura, Minna.
Elleman, during the meeting, informed the hoteliers that they were invited for an interactive session over the menace of thuggery and other crimes that have been disturbing the city.
In a statement by the spokesman of the Police, Superintendent Wasi’u Abiodun, the CP noted that some of the miscreants committing crimes in the State are not from Minna, and they usually commit these vices with the use of tricycles and motorcycles, robbing unsuspecting members of the public of their valuables and causing injuries or even death.
He added that mostly, proceeds of the crime are being used to lodge in hotels, thereby getting shelter from the hoteliers knowingly or unknowingly.

He charged the members to assist security agencies in sanitising the city by providing intelligence, observing their customers and not accepting more persons in a room.
CP Elleman urged them to assist the Police in arresting thugs and miscreants disturbing the peace in the city noting that a lot of the miscreants have been arrested, including those who committed culpable homicide recently.
He restated that there is no infringement on anyone’s right because the executive order by the Governor is in the interest of the security of the State and that every human right has limitations, most especially when it affects the rights of other persons; such as robbing people of their valuables, causing injuries on innocent persons, and even causing unnecessary loss of life.
The hoteliers, in turn, appreciated the efforts of the Commissioner of Police and assured him of their support and cooperation.
They also used the opportunity to tender some of their challenges with security agencies, while the CP advised them accordingly.
