The Lord Mayor of Leeds City in the United Kingdom, Abigail Katung, has pledged to support peace, security, girl-child education, women empowerment, and the preservation of culture and traditions in Kaduna State.
She made the commitment during a meeting with the Ham Chiefdom Traditional Council, held as part of the Tuk-Ham annual cultural festival in Kwoi, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The cultural values of Southern Kaduna hold deep significance, shaping governance and everyday life, while promoting the rich heritage of the Ham nation.
Present at the Tuk-Ham festival was the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Abigail Katung, alongside Jakadiyan Jab, Deborah Usman.
Both women reiterated their commitment to championing girl-child education and youth and women empowerment within the region and beyond.

Also in attendance was the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who accompanied former Chief of Defence Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai—Sarkin Yakin Jaba, as well as the Security Adviser to the Ham Paramount Ruler, Dr. Danladi Gyet Maude.
They both pledged to collaborate with other security agencies to bolster peace and security in Kaduna State and across Nigeria.
The custodians of the Nok cultural heritage expressed optimism that, continued adherence to traditional values, will preserve the identity and future of the Ham people.
