The Federal, State Governments and the security agencies have been called upon to as a matter of urgency unravel the circumstances surrounding the gruesome assassination of the late Katsina State Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Rabe Nasir, and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
These were the submissions of both the Katsina State Coordinators of the National Human Rights Commission, Barrister Adamu Umaru and his counterpart from the Human Rights Network, Izma Yamadi, during the just concluded Year 2021 International Human Rights Day, marked in the state.

This year’s International Human Rights Day, with the theme: Equality – Reducing Inequalities, Advancing Human Rights, was marked in a low key in Katsina State, as it coincided with the assassination of the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Rabe Nasir, by suspected hired assassins, at his residence on Wednesday night, December 8.
In the mood of the mourning, the Katsina State chapters of the National Human Rights Commission and the Human Rights Network, through their coordinators, Barrister Adamu Umaru and Izma Yamada, as well as the Registrar, Federal High Court, Katsina, Barrister Ismail Jibril, are calling on both the Federal and State Governments, as well as security agencies, to fish out the killers, and do the needful.
They are also of the opinion that the issue of Human Rights has been put into question, especially with the assassination, calling on Nigerians to be more vigilant, and report cases of human rights abuses to the relevant authorities.
Recall that the late Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Rabe Nasir, was assassinated, with multiple stabs all over his body, in his house, located at his Fatima Shema Estate in the metropolis, by yet to be identified assailants.
The Commissioner of Police, Sanusi Buba has, however, revealed that some arrests have been made.
President Muhammadu Buhari on his part, while expressing shock over the incident, has also vowed to do all it takes, to find and bring the killers to book, when he sent a high powered delegation to the state on Friday.
