Some concerned Nigerians in Katsina State have taken to the streets, on a peaceful protest, in what they term, the deteriorating security situation in the country.
The peaceful protest was tagged, “No more bloodshed.”
The protest, led by a woman, Jamila Abbas, and Bashir Dauda condemned the proposed turbaning ceremony of President Buhari’s son in Daura, describing it as unfortunate and insensitive to the plight of the masses, in the face of the resurgence of killings, and called for the immediate suspension of the ceremony.
The peaceful demonstration by the concerned Nigerians in Katsina is to register and protest against the resurgence of insecurity in Northern Nigeria and the country at large.
The protesters led by a woman, Jamila Abbas and Bashir Dauda, defiled the early morning harmattan cold, and gathered at the popular Emir of Katsina Roundabout, to express their concerns, under the watchful eyes of security personnel.
Though they were not allowed to carry out the protest initially, due to the claims of not obtaining certified permission from the police, the group said, they had already sorted for and got the approval of the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba.

They called on the Government to rule out any possible renegotiation with the terrorists or whatsoever, as it has never yielded any positive result, rather, the resurgence of attacks and killings.
They are also calling on the government, to redouble efforts to fish out both the killers of Sokoto travellers and recently, the Commissioner for Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Rabe Nasir saying their hideouts are well known.
The leaders of the protesters were later taken away by the security agencies, in what they termed, ‘invitation for further discussions.
