The Nigerian Army says its responsibilities have long extended beyond national borders, playing key roles in peacekeeping and security efforts across the West African sub-region.
Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, made this known during the Passing Out Parade of the 88 Regular Recruits Intake at the Nigerian Army Depot in Zaria, Kaduna State.
The Passing Out Parade of the 88 Regular Recruits Intake at the Nigerian Army Depot, Zaria, marks the successful completion of basic military training of these 6,195 recruits that began on the 13th of January 2025.
As the Reviewing Officer, the Army Chief inspected the parade in line with military tradition.
The colourful event featured precision drills, transitioning from slow to quick march, and the presentation of awards to outstanding recruits.

Addressing the recruits, the Chief of Army Staff charged them to embrace a life of sacrifice, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to the nation.
He reminded them that the Nigerian Army is a professional force dedicated to safeguarding both national and international peace and security.
General Oluyede reaffirmed his commitment to equipping soldiers with the necessary tools to succeed, while also prioritising their welfare as part of his command philosophy.
He expressed confidence that the new soldiers, having undergone rigorous training, will excel in their military careers and contribute meaningfully to the security and stability of the country.
