The Nigerian Senate has condemned the latest wave of attacks in Benue State, where over 200 people were reported killed in Yelewata Community, in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
Addressing journalists at the National Assembly on Tuesday, Senate Spokesman, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, expressed deep frustration over the recurring violence, declaring that the Senate is “tired of mourning” and observing moments of silence for victims of preventable killings.
Adaramodu said urgent and decisive security measures are urgently required to restore peace to the affected areas and across the country.
He also said the National Assembly has approved substantial budgetary allocations to support the country’s security agencies in combating banditry and other violent crimes.
