Taraba State

At least four hundred and forty-three (443) pharmacies and patent medicine stores have been sealed in Taraba State by the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria for failure to comply with pharmaceutical requirements.

A tour across nine (9) Local Government Areas of the State by the Council indicates that the sealed drug outlets do not adhere to pharmaceutical practices.

The council decried the noncompliance with standard pharmaceutical practices in most of the outlets visited, adding that it will contribute to the detoriating health issues amongst citizens.

The purpose of the tour is to regulate pharmaceutical standards and rid the country of substandard and falsified medicines.

The exercise has led to the sealing of most pharmacies and patent medicine stores within Jalingo, and other Local Government Areas visited.

The professional body also tasked Nigerians to prioritize their wellbeing by patronising medicine outlets that have their licences conspicuously displayed on their premises.
