The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Honourable Justice Terna Ufefa Puusu, a former Chief Judge of the state.
Justice Puusu, who served as Chief Judge from May 27, 1999, until his retirement on October 19, 2005, at the statutory age of 65, was described by Governor Alia as “an erudite jurist, a man of impeccable character, and a defender of justice who upheld the highest standards of professionalism and leadership in the judiciary.”
In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the Governor hailed the late jurist as one of Benue’s finest legal minds whose unwavering commitment to fairness, justice, and the rule of law would continue to inspire generations within the legal profession and beyond.

Governor Alia further noted that Justice Puusu’s contributions to the development of the justice system in Benue State and Nigeria remain indelible, urging members of the Bar and the Bench to honour his memory by upholding the ideals of integrity, impartiality, and respect for the constitution.
While commiserating with the immediate family, the judiciary, and the people of Benue, Governor Alia encouraged them to find solace in the fact that the late Chief Judge lived a fulfilled life of service and humanity.
He prayed for the peaceful repose of Justice Puusu’s soul.
