Kebbi State Commander of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Kabir Alkamawa wants urgent action at the community, national and global levels to address poverty, extremism, climate change and inequality.

He also called for tolerance, fairness and responsibility in daily life.
Alkamawa wants the citizens to become ambassadors of peace through actions and values.
He made the pleas at the commemoration of the International Day of Peace at the state’s Command Headquarters in Gwadangwaji, Birnin Kebbi.
He emphasized that peace is not merely the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice, equality and mutual respect.

According to him, security and peace are interdependent noting that without one, the other cannot be sustained.
The Commandant said citizens must rise above differences of tribe, religion and politics, to embrace shared humanity.
Practical steps must include educating the youth on tolerance, resolving disputes amicably, rejecting violence and fostering cooperation between communities and security institutions, he noted.
The event highlighted the urgency of acting now to prevent further instability, banditry, kidnapping and terror-related violence, and cross-border crimes, due to the porous frontiers with Niger and Benin Republics.
