Thousands of Nigerians have taken to the streets of Kaduna, calling on President Bola Tinubu to take decisive action against those sabotaging efforts to achieve local refining of petroleum products.
The protesters described their march as a patriotic campaign to defend Nigeria’s economic independence.
The demonstrators, who converged on the Murtala Mohammed Square before marching through major streets of the city, carried placards with inscriptions such as “Support Local Refining” and “Crush Economic Saboteurs.”
Speaking during the protest, leaders of the Partners for National Economic Progress, Igwe Ude-Umanta and Dahiru Umar, described the campaign as a fight for national survival.

They also faulted PENGASSAN for what they termed acts of sabotage against national economic interests.
The protesters further urged President Tinubu, as Minister of Petroleum Resources, to ensure that local refineries receive crude oil at the same rate sold to foreign buyers.
