Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara says his administration will, under his mantra of “Rivers people first,” continue to embark on meaningful projects that will bring development to all parts of the state and positively impact the lives of the people.

Speaking after he inspected the strategic Trans-Kalabari Road project that cuts across all three local government areas that make up the Kalabari Kingdom, Governor Fubara declared that governance is all about serving the interests of the people.

The strategic Trans-Kalabari Road project in Rivers State is a major infrastructure development aimed at connecting several communities in Akuku Toru, Asari Toru and Degema LGAs.

Awarded at a cost of N222 billion, the project, when completed, will, surpass the over N200 billion Port Harcourt Ring Road project, as the single biggest project to be embarked upon in the history of the state.

The road is expected to stimulate economic activities, improve connectivity, and bring development to the region.

The road project which is expected to be completed within 32 months is being funded through the state’s internally generated revenue.

Governor Fubara on Monday inspected an artery of the project passing through swampy terrain from Rumuolumeni community in Obio Akpor local government area. He spent several hours inspecting a series of bridges stretching about 14 kilometres and expressed delight with the pace of work.

Governor Fubara says his administration will continue to serve the interests of Rivers people. He also used the opportunity to call on the people to join hands with his administration to build a united and prosperous Rivers State.
