The Department of State Services has arrested a major arms dealer, Musa Abubakar, for manufacturing and supplying high-caliber weapons and ammunition to armed groups responsible for deadly attacks in Plateau State and other parts of northern Nigeria.

Abubakar was intercepted on November 12, 2025, after DSS operatives, acting on credible and precise intelligence, raided his arms-manufacturing workshop in the Mista Ali area of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Sources within the Service say the suspect confessed to producing and distributing weapons and IED components to terror elements linked to repeated attacks in Plateau and neighbouring states.

Prior to the arrest, DSS operatives conducted extensive surveillance on his residence and workshop to track his movement, production cycle, and customer network.

He was caught red-handed with assorted Improvised Explosive Device components, chemicals, fabrication tools, and materials used in producing weapons, all recovered from the scene and secured by the DSS.

This operation comes barely a week after the Service recaptured Abdulazeez Obadaki, also known as Bomboy, the Kuje Prison escapee and mastermind of the Owo Catholic Church and Deeper Life Church attacks.

The Service has, in recent months, also arrested nine high-profile suspects behind the Plateau and Benue massacres, including 46-year-old Timna Manjol, who has already pleaded guilty to two of the four charges against him in case FHC/ABJ/CR/451/2025.

Security analysts say the latest arrest strengthens the DSS’ record of disrupting terror supply chains, degrading armed networks, and tightening national security intelligence.
