Federal High Court Abuja, has convicted the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, for engaging in acts of terrorism, which relates to counts one and two of the seven-count charge brought against him by the Department of State Services, DSS.
Trial judge, Justice James Omotosho holds that threats of violence and killings, including declaration of sit-at-home in South-East states, in the many broadcasts of Nnamdi Kanu constitute acts of terrorism.
The court also convicts him on count-three which accuses him of being IPOB leader after ruling that his rendition from Kenya in 2021 does not nullify his trial which was activated since 2015, before he jumped bail and was re-arrested after four years.
Justice Omotosho also ruled that the enactment of Terrorism Prevention Act 2022 does not vitiate the case against Kanu which commenced in 2015 based on the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act of 2013.
