Kebbi State Government has appealed for fervent prayers from the public, particularly religious leaders of all faiths, following the unfortunate abduction of 24 Maga schoolgirls.
The government urged collective spiritual support for their safe release to their families.
Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Sani Aliyu, made the call at Government House, Birnin Kebbi, stressing that the moment calls for deep reflection and strong supplication from all segments of society.
He appealed to Ulama, learned men, scholars, Imams, Pastors, and all leaders of faith to return to the Creator in sincere prayers, noting that some challenges particularly those relating to security, are matters only God Almighty can resolve.
The Commissioner emphasised that although human beings may make efforts to address certain issues on their own, experience has shown that situations of this nature require divine intervention.
He said ‘ It is only Allah (Subḥānahū Wa-taʿālā) who can rescue the state from these predicaments and restore peace and comfort”.
He therefore urged scholars, clergy, and religious leaders to intensify fervent prayers for the safe return of the abducted students of Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, and for sustained peace and tranquility across Kebbi State.
Aliyu specifically appealed to Islamic scholars, Ulama, and Imams to engage in continuous Qunūt during and after the five daily prayers, particularly during the late hours of the night, seeking divine intervention for peace and stability.
He equally called on Christian clergymen to use every available opportunity during sermons in churches, synagogues, and other places of worship to pray for the state and the country, asking God to restore peace and guide those in authority.

He urged citizens not to collaborate with bandits or criminal elements, but rather to protect their communities and provide timely information to security agencies when necessary.
