President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity in the northern region and reversing the area’s long-standing economic decline.
The President gave the assurance at the 25th anniversary celebration of the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna.
The silver jubilee of the ACF provided a platform for robust discussions on the numerous challenges that have slowed Northern Nigeria’s progress, ranging from insecurity to economic stagnation.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, described the North as a critical pillar of the Nigerian nation.
They emphasised that the region’s socioeconomic and security challenges require collaborative solutions.
Representing Governor Uba Sani, Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe commended the Arewa Consultative Forum for remaining a strong and consistent voice for the region over the past two decades.
She emphasised the need to confront insecurity, unemployment, poverty, the rising number of out-of-school children, and climate-related impacts head-on.
President Bola Tinubu, represented by the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to combating terrorism and rebuilding the economic foundations of Northern states.
He said the administration remains determined to restore peace and unlock the region’s development potential.
Stakeholders believe that with unity, political will, and consistent investment, the north can overcome challenges and achieve measurable change, securing a more stable and prosperous future for its people.
