As Christians in Ilorin the Kwara State capital, mark the first Sunday service of 2026, church leaders and worshippers have urged governments at all levels to prioritize the security of lives and property while creating an enabling environment for youths, especially unemployed graduates, to thrive.
They stressed that any nation that neglects its youth cannot be taken seriously among progressive nations.
The call was made during church services across Ilorin, where concerns were raised over the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
According to them, travelling across the country has become increasingly risky due to banditry and kidnapping, while many educated youths remain unemployed.
Church leaders maintained that once security improves nationwide, governance will become easier and more effective, emphasizing that the protection of lives must be treated as a priority.
They concluded that security remains the foundation for growth in all sectors, warning that insecurity destroys progress.
They urged the government to restore peace across all regions in 2026, beyond political considerations ahead of the 2027 elections.
