Authorities of the Nigeria Police Force have confirmed that an abduction incident occurred in Kurmin Wali community, in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, days after the Kaduna State Police Command initially denied that any abduction took place.
The incident was first reported as an attack on church worshippers, with church leaders and civil society groups alleging that over 160 persons were abducted during last week Sunday services, including from Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
At the time, the Police dismissed the claims, saying no evidence of an attack or missing persons had been established.
In a clarification issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police said the denial followed conflicting submissions made at a Kaduna State Security Council meeting, where some representatives from the area challenged the reports, leading to continued verification.

Checks by operational units and intelligence assets have since confirmed that the incident did occur.
Following the confirmation, security operations were intensified across Kajuru and adjoining communities, with emphasis on rescue efforts and restoring stability.
The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of tactical teams, intelligence support, and sustained patrols to the area.
The Force say the number and identities of those abducted are still being reconciled, urging the public and the media to rely on official updates as operations continue.
